3 <br /> 15 <br /> • The APB makes recommendations on goals and objectives for the <br /> triennial Lands Legacy Action Plan (Goal 8). <br /> If your board/commission played the role of an Element Lead Advisory <br /> Board involved in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan preparation process, <br /> please indicate your board's activities/accomplishments as they may relate <br /> to the Comprehensive Plan's goals or objectives. <br /> • The APB promotes, reviews, and recommends Voluntary Agricultural <br /> Districts and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (Goal 2 Objective <br /> AG-1, Goal 8 Objective AG-9). <br /> • The APB promotes efforts to increase purchase and consumption of local <br /> foods through its support and membership on the Food Council (Goal 2, <br /> Objective AG-3; Goal 3, Objective AG-7). <br /> • The APB provided input to Planning for the Agricultural Support <br /> Enterprises program, to help promote agricultural economic development <br /> and agricultural entrepreneurialism (Goal 2, Objective AG-1). <br /> Identify any activities this board/commission expects to carry out in 2022 <br /> as they relate to established BOCC goals and priorities. If applicable, is <br /> there a fiscal impact (i.e., funding, staff time, other resources) associated <br /> with these proposed activities (please list). <br /> • Encourage the BOCC to consult with the APB in matters relating to <br /> agriculture, in keeping with the APB's Charge which directs the board to <br /> advise the BOCC on agricultural issues. <br /> • Continue to promote and recommend Voluntary Agricultural Districts and <br /> Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts <br /> • Support continuation of the successful Farm-to-Table Event for <br /> approximately 300 students in local 4t" grades, held annually at <br /> Blackwood Farm Park <br /> • Purchase and install additional road signs to better identify farms in the <br /> Voluntary Agricultural District Program (existing and new farms) <br /> • Enroll additional farm owners in the Century Farm Program through <br /> assistance with applications and deed research. <br /> What are the concerns or emerging issues your board has identified for the <br /> upcoming year that it plans to address, or wishes to bring to the <br /> Commissioners' attention? <br /> • The APB continues to believe in the need to establish a permanent <br /> Orange County Agricultural Preservation Fund, with the strong support of <br /> the Orange County Food Council. Prime agricultural land is being <br /> subdivided and developed at an alarming rate and it pushing up land <br /> prices to levels that make it difficult or impossible for new farms to be <br /> established. As a result, farmland throughout the county is being taken out <br /> of production and converted to residential use, which requires greatly <br /> 3 <br />
