ORANGE COUNTY 015000-4 <br /> <br />Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification Temporary Facilities and Controls <br /> <br /> <br />Use temporary HVAC units or system to control humidity. 1 <br /> 2 <br />Comply with manufacturer's written instructions for temperature, relative humidity, and exposure to water 3 <br />limits. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Hygroscopic materials that may support mold growth that become wet during the course of construction and 6 <br />remain wet for 48 hours are considered defective and must be replaced. 7 <br /> 8 <br /> 9 <br />DUST AND CONTAMINATION CONTROL DURING CONSTRUCTION 10 <br /> 11 <br />Prevent dust, fumes, and odors from entering occupied areas or areas in which construction work is more advanced. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Provide floor-to-ceiling dustproof partitions to limit dust and dirt migration and to separate areas occupied by 14 <br />Owner from fumes and noise. Construct dustproof partitions with two layers of 6-mil polyethylene sheet on each 15 <br />side. Cover floor with two layers of 6-mil polyethylene sheet, extending sheets 18 inches up the sidewalls. Over-16 <br />lap and tape full length of joints. Cover floor with fire-retardant-treated plywood. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Maintain negative air pressure within the work area using HEPA-equipped air-filtration units, starting with com-19 <br />mencement of temporary partition construction, and continuing until removal of temporary partitions is complete. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Use vacuum collection attachments on dust-producing equipment. Isolate limited work areas using portable dust-22 <br />containment devices. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Perform daily construction cleanup and final cleanup using approved, HEPA-filter-equipped vacuum equipment. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Coordinate general construction activities with the work of Divisions 21-28 to avoid contamination and/or degradation 27 <br />of building engineered systems by dust, over-spray of insulation or paint, etc. Costs for the cleaning and/or com-28 <br />ponent replacement of engineered systems required by contamination and/or degradation by general con-29 <br />struction activities shall be assigned to the General Contractor. 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />OPERATION, TERMINATION, AND REMOVAL OF TEMPORARY FACILITIES 33 <br /> 34 <br />Operation: Maintain temporary facilities in good operating condition until removal. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Termination and Removal: Remove each temporary facility when need for its service has ended, when it has been 37 <br />replaced by authorized use of a permanent facility, or no later than Substantial Completion. Complete or, if neces-38 <br />sary, restore permanent construction that may have been delayed because of interference with temporary facility. 39 <br />Repair damaged Work, clean exposed surfaces, and replace construction that cannot be satisfactorily repaired. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Removal: Materials and facilities that constitute temporary facilities are property of Contractor.
