ORANGE COUNTY 015000-2 <br /> <br />Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification Temporary Facilities and Controls <br /> <br /> <br />TEMPORARY UTILITIES 1 <br /> 2 <br />General: Install temporary service or connect to existing service. Arrange with utility company, Owner, and existing 3 <br />users for time when service can be interrupted, if necessary, to make connections for temporary services. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Water Supply: Water may be taken from the building service lines. Contractor shall provide and install all piping to 6 <br />convey water to point of use as required, shall be responsible for all damage to mains or water system caused by him 7 <br />or his sub-contractors, and upon completion, shall remove any temporary piping. Damage caused to mains or water 8 <br />system shall be repaired without additional cost to Owner. The point of connection shall be as designated by the 9 <br />Owner. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Electrical Power and Lighting: Electrical power required during construction may be taken from sources available on 12 <br />the Project site. This service shall be installed by a qualified electrical Contractor. Lighting shall be provided by Con-13 <br />tractor in all spaces at all times where necessary for good and proper workmanship, for inspection, or for safety. No 14 <br />temporary power shall be used off temporary lighting lines without specific approval of A-E. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Temporary electrical power and lighting shall be installed by the Division 26 contractor and comply with NECA 17 <br />Electrical Design Library Temporary Electrical Facilities and with NEMA UL standards and regulations for tempo-18 <br />rary electrical service. Install service in compliance with NFPA 70, National Electric Code. 19 <br /> 20 <br /> 21 <br />TEMPORARY FACILITIES INSTALLATION 22 <br /> 23 <br />Locate temporary facilities where they will serve Project adequately and result in minimum interference with perfor-24 <br />mance of the Work. Relocate and modify facilities as required by progress of the Work. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Parking for construction activities must be within construction line limits. Contractor’s personnel will not at any time 27 <br />park in any Owner parking lot without the prior express consent of Owner. Any personnel violating this requirement, 28 <br />do so at their own risk and should be aware that their vehicles may be towed at their own expense. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Provide Project signs as indicated. Unauthorized signs are not permitted. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Identification Sign: Provide Project identification sign as indicated on Drawings. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Temporary Signs: Provide other signs as indicated and as required to inform public and individuals seeking 35 <br />entrance to Project. Provide temporary, directional signs for construction personnel and visitors. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Sign Maintenance: Maintain and touchup signs so they are legible at all times. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Waste Disposal Facilities: Provide waste-collection containers in sizes adequate to handle waste from construction 40 <br />operations. Provide adequate, separate cycling containers for all recyclable waste generated during construction. 41 <br />Containers shall be regularly emptied and construction debris shall not be allowed to accumulate on the Project site. 42 <br />Comply with requirements of authorities having jurisdiction. 43 <br /> 44 <br /> 45 <br />FIRE PROTECTION DURING CONSTRUCTION 46 <br /> 47 <br />Building contents and all elements of new and/or existing construction must be thoroughly protected from construc-48 <br />tion procedures that produce sparks, flames, or excessive heat. Such procedures include, but are not limited to, 49 <br />welding, soldering, flame-cutting, using grinders or metal cutting saws, and heating of work spaces. Contractor shall 50 <br />maintain fire watch and/or portable fire-suppression devices, as required, during these operations. 51 <br /> 52 <br />The Contractor shall develop, provide, and post a written plan in compliance with NFPA 241 and requirements of the 53 <br />local authorities having jurisdiction for fire protection during construction. 54 <br /> 55 <br />Develop and supervise an overall fire-prevention and -protection program for personnel at Project site. Review needs 56 <br />with local fire department and establish procedures to be followed.
