ORANGE COUNTY 262726-3 <br /> <br />Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification Wiring Devices <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION 1 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 <br />INSTALLATION OF WIRING DEVICES 4 <br /> 5 <br />Install wiring devices as indicated in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions, applicable requirements of 6 <br />NEC and NECA's "Standard of Installation," and in accordance with recognized industry practices to fulfill project 7 <br />requirements. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Coordinate with other work, including painting, electrical boxes and wiring work, as necessary to interface installation 10 <br />of wiring devices with other work. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Install wiring devices only in electrical boxes that are clean, free from excess building materials, dirt, and debris. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Install wiring devices after wiring work is completed. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Install wallplates after painting work is completed. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Tighten connectors and terminals, including screws and bolts, in accordance with equipment manufacturer's 19 <br />published torque tightening values for wiring devices. Where manufacturer's torquing requirements are not indicated, 20 <br />tighten connectors and terminals to comply with tightening torque’s specified in UL Stds 486A and B. Use properly 21 <br />scaled torque indicating hand tool. 22 <br /> 23 <br /> 24 <br />PROTECTION OF WALLPLATES AND RECEPTACLES 25 <br /> 26 <br />Upon installation of wallplates and receptacles, advise other project Contractors regarding proper and cautious use of 27 <br />convenience outlets. At time of Substantial Completion, replace those items that have been damaged, including 28 <br />those burned and scored by faulty plugs. 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br />GROUNDING 32 <br /> 33 <br />Provide equipment grounding connections for all wiring devices, unless otherwise indicated. All devices, including 34 <br />switches, shall be grounded by an individual insulated green equipment grounding conductor connected to the 35 <br />grounding conductor that is run with the ungrounded conductors, and attached to the device box. Comply with 36 <br />tightening torque’s specified in UL Std. 486A to assure permanent and effective grounds. 37 <br /> 38 <br /> 39 <br />TESTING 40 <br /> 41 <br />Prior to energizing circuitry, test wiring for electrical continuity, and for short-circuits. Ensure proper polarity of 42 <br />connections is maintained. Subsequent to energizing, test wiring devices to demonstrate compliance with 43 <br />requirements. 44 <br /> 45 <br /> 46 <br />FIELD QUALITY CONTROL 47 <br /> 48 <br />Subsequent to completion of installation of electrical disconnect switches, energize circuitry and demonstrate 49 <br />capability and compliance with requirements. Correct any faults to assure compliance with requirements. Retest to 50 <br />demonstrate compliance. Devices that fail to comply with requirements shall be removed and replaced with new 51 <br />units.
