ORANGE COUNTY 260534-3 <br /> <br />Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification Raceways <br /> <br /> <br />SELECTION OF RACEWAY AND SIZE OF RACEWAY SYSTEM 1 <br /> 2 <br />General: Install concealed raceway system in new construction work, either in walls or above hung ceilings. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Do not route raceway below slabs unless such routing is specifically indicated on the Drawings. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Do not use surface metal raceway unless such use is specifically indicated on the Drawings. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Conduit Installation: Unless otherwise indicated on the Drawings, provide rigid steel zinc-coated conduit (RMC) 9 <br />where embedded in concrete, masonry, earth, or installed outdoors. Follow minimum requirements in other areas as 10 <br />follows: 11 <br /> 12 <br />Steel zinc-coated EMT may be installed in all areas except where specifically indicated otherwise in the 13 <br />Drawings or under the conditions of use listed below: 14 <br /> 15 <br /> 16 <br />• Where it will be installed in exterior walls. 17 <br />• Where it will be installed outdoors, in concrete or in direct contact with the earth. 18 <br />• Where it will be subject to physical damage. 19 <br />• Where it will be installed lower than four (4) feet from finished floor in areas where exposed to 20 <br /> possible damage from area use activities. 21 <br />• Where it will be subject to corrosive influence. 22 <br />• Where it will be installed indoors in wet or damp locations. 23 <br />• Where trade size is larger than 2". 24 <br /> 25 <br />Any of the above use conditions may be overridden by the Drawings. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Avoid use of dissimilar metals throughout system to reduce the possibility of galvanic action. Where dissimilar metals 28 <br />must be in contact, coat surfaces with corrosion inhibiting compound before assembling. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Use liquid-tight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) only where specifically indicated on the Drawings or where subjected to 31 <br />one or more of the following conditions: 32 <br /> 33 <br />• Flexible connection in an exterior location. 34 <br />• Final 18" connection to motors. 35 <br />• Equipment subject to movement or vibration. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Do not use PVC raceway. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Use Flexible Metal Conduit (FMC) only for final connections to light fixtures and utilization equipment. Any other use 40 <br />shall be limited to applications where specifically indicated on the Drawings 41 <br /> 42 <br />Flexible Metal Conduit may not be used to interconnect device or junction boxes, utilization equipment, 43 <br />fixtures. 44 <br /> 45 <br />Flexible Metal Conduit length shall not exceed six feet. 46 <br /> 47 <br />Size raceway and raceway systems as follows: 48 <br /> 49 <br />Size raceway to meet NEC requirements, or as indicated on the Drawings, whichever size is larger, except 50 <br />no conduit smaller than 3/4 inch trade size shall be installed. 51 <br /> 52 <br /> 53 <br />INSTALLATION OF RACEWAY SYSTEMS 54 <br /> 55 <br />General: Install raceways as indicated, in accordance with manufacturer's written installation instructions, and in 56 <br />compliance with the NEC and NECA's "Standards of Installation."
