ORANGE COUNTY 233423 - 2

Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification HVAC Power Ventilators

POWER VENTILATORS 1
2
HVLS Fan: Provide high velocity, low speed fan suspended from building structure, size capacity, and arrangement 3
as indicated on the Drawings and as specified herin. 4
5
The fan shall be ETL certified and built pursuant to construction guidelines set forth by UL standards 507 6
and CSA standard C22.2 No. 113-08. The fan shall be designed to move an effective amount of air for 7
cooling and destratification, commercial applications. The fan, in operation, shall not disturb other hanging 8
objects 2’ (61 cm) outside of its circumference to a distance of 3’ (91 cm) below its airfoils. The fan shall 9
incorporate a direct drive system designed specifically for high volume, low speed fans to ensure silent 10
operation. The sound levels from the fan operating at maximum speed shall not exceed 40 dBA (measured 11
20’ (6.1 cm) below the blades and 20’ (6.1 cm) horizontally from the center of the fan). 12
13
The fan shall be equipped with ten (10) high volume, low speed airfoils of precision extruded aluminum alloy. 14
Each airfoil shall be of the high performance. The airfoils shall be connected by means of two (2) sets of 15
bolts and lock washers per airfoil. The airfoils shall be connected to the hub and interlocked with zinc plated 16
steel retainers. 17
18
The fan shall be equipped with ten (10 winglets designed to redirect outward airflow into downward airflow, 19
thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the fan. The winglets shall be molded thermoplastic 20
polyester resin. A winglet shall be attached at the tip of each airfoil. Winglets shall be powder coated to 21
match architects color sample. 22
23
The fan motor shall be a permanent magnet brushless motor rated for continuous operation at maximum 24
speed with the capability of modulating the fan speed from 0-100% without the use of a gearbox or other 25
mechanical means of control. The motor shall operate from any voltage ranging from 100-130 VAC, 1 φ, and 26
60Hz, without requiring adapters or customer selection. The motor shall be a non-ventilated, heat sink 27
design. 28
29
The fan hub shall be constructed of steel for high strength and durability. The hub shall be precision 30
machined to achieve a well balanced and solid rotating assembly. The hub shall incorporate five (5) safety 31
retaining clips made of 1/8” (0.3 cm) thick steel that shall restrain the hub/airfoil assembly in case of shaft 32
failure. 33
34
The fan mounting system shall be designed for quick and secure installation from the structure. All 35
components in the mounting system shall be of welded construction using low carbon steel no less than 36
3/16” (0.5 cm) thick and powder coated or plated for corrosion resistance and appearance. All mounting 37
bolts shall be SAE Grade 8 or equivalent. 38
39
The fan shall be equipped with a safety cable that provides an additional means of securing the fan 40
assembly to the building structure. The safety cable shall be 3/16” (0.5 cm) diameter and fabricated out of 7 41
x 19 stranded galvanized steel. The loops shall be secured with swaged Nicopress fittings, pre-loaded and 42
tested to 3,000 lb·f. Field construction of safety cables is not permitted. 43
44
The fan controller shall be incorporated into the fan assembly. The controller shall be factory programmed to 45
minimize starting and braking torques. The controller shall be equipped with a simple diagnostic program 46
and an LED light to identify and relay faults in the system. The controller shall be housed in an enclosure 47
independent of the motor to prevent overheating or electrical interference. 48
49
The fan shall be equipped with a remote wall control. The wall control shall be capable of mounting to a 50
standard electrical box and shall include operator controls and display for controlling the fan’s power and 51
speed. Communication with the fan drive and controller shall be by a standard (14 Ga/3 wire with ground), 52
line voltage cable that is field installed and provided by the installer. 53
54
The manufacturer shall replace any products or components in accordance to the following schedule: 55
Airfoils, Lifetime (Parts); Hub, Lifetime (Parts); Motor, 10 years (Parts); Controller, 10 years (Parts); and 56
Labor, 1 year 57
58
Contractor shall submit structural support drawings sealed be licensed professional engineer. 59
60
DocuSign Envelope ID: 7668B866-6C26-485C-9A45-DAAB5D4BD951
