ORANGE COUNTY 230923-13

Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification Extension of Existing Direct Digital
Control System for HVAC

All cables shall be terminated using appropriate termination equipment. 1
2
Fiber Termination Panels: Provide a rack mountable, modular cabinet capable of terminating 3
up to 24 type ST multimode fiber cables. Panels shall be as manufactured by Ortronics, Amp, 4
Siecor, or Superior. 5
6
Fiber Optic Testing 7
8
Upon completion of the passive optical cable system, the system must be tested to 9
ensure compliance with the design and link loss specifications. The tests include: 10
11
Power Meter Tests: For building risers, power meter tests are required. 12
13
End-to-End Attenuation Testing: Tests shall be completed on each fiber 14
span at both operational wavelengths: 15
16
850/1310 nm multimode 17
18
1550 nm single mode 19
20
Testing in one direction is required. Link attenuation does not include any active 21
devices or passive devices other than cable, connectors and splices (e.g., link 22
attenuation does not include such devices as optical bypass switches, couplers, 23
repeaters, or optical amplifiers. Test results should be retained for inclusion into the 24
documentation package. 25
26
Connector loss readings of each completed connector should be recorded using an 27
OTDR at 850 and 1310 nm in one direction. 28
29
Optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) signature traces of each terminated fiber 30
should be recorded at 850 nm and 1310 nm for fiber continuity purposes. OTDR 31
testing is mandatory for runs longer than 2 km. 32
33
Final report shall be compiled which records system configuration, fiber labels, cable 34
routes and “as built” details. Loss measurements with calibrated light source and 35
power meter shall be included. OTDR traces shall also be included when requested 36
in advance. 37
38
Pneumatic Tubing: Metallic tubing is required throughout. Except for short (24” max) flexible tubing final 39
connections to pneumatic operators. 40
41
Exception: Non-metallic tubing may be utilized when operating at 45 psig or less and not more than 125 42
degrees F. Except for short apparatus connections (not exceeding 24” in length), non-metallic tubing in 43
mechanical rooms and other exposed locations shall be protected from mechanical damage by 44
installation in raceway. Provide protective grommet where tubing exits raceway. 45
46
Smoke detectors and/or fan shutdown relays initiated by a fire alarm system shall be integrated into the control 47
system and sequence of operation as indicated and/or required. 48
49
50
FIELD QUALITY CONTROL 51
52
Perform the following field tests and inspections and prepare test reports after completion of DDC system 53
installation: 54
55
After electrical circuitry has been energized, start units to confirm proper unit operation. Remove and 56
replace malfunctioning units and retest. 57
58
Test and adjust controls and safeties. 59
60
DocuSign Envelope ID: 7668B866-6C26-485C-9A45-DAAB5D4BD951
