ORANGE COUNTY 230719-4 <br /> <br />Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification HVAC Piping Insulation <br /> <br /> <br />INSULATION INSTALLATION AT PENETRATIONS 1 <br /> 2 <br />Roof Penetrations: Install insulation continuously through roof penetrations. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Seal penetrations with flashing sealant. 5 <br /> 6 <br />For applications requiring only indoor insulation, terminate insulation above roof surface and seal with joint 7 <br />sealant. For applications requiring indoor and outdoor insulation, install insulation for outdoor applications 8 <br />tightly joined to indoor insulation ends. Seal joint with joint sealant. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Extend jacket of outdoor insulation outside roof flashing at least 2 inches below top of roof flashing. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Seal jacket to roof flashing with flashing sealant. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Underground Exterior Wall Penetrations: Terminate insulation flush with sleeve seal. Seal butt joints with manufacturer's 42 <br />recommended adhesive. 43 <br /> 44 <br />Where slit insulation sections must be used, seal longitudinal seams and butt joints with manufacturer's 45 <br />recommended adhesive. Secure slit sections on both sides of each fitting and 12" o.c. on straight pipe 46 <br />or tubing runs with 2" wide, 1/8" thick insulation tape matching the adjacent insulation. The use of 47 <br />metal bands, plastic bands, and wire are prohibited. 48 <br /> 49 <br />Insulation Installation on Pipe Fittings and Elbows: 50 <br /> 51 <br />Fabricate mitered sections of pipe insulation as fitting covers. 52 <br /> 53 <br />On soldered, brazed, or buttwelded joint fittings, insulation that fits the adjacent piping may be 54 <br />used. 55 <br /> 56 <br />For screwed or socket weld joint fittings, the insulation inside diameter shall match the outside 57 <br />diameter of the adjacent piping.
