ORANGE COUNTY 230523-2 <br /> <br />Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification HVAC General Duty Valves <br /> for Hydronic Piping <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION 1 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 <br />VALVE APPLICATION 4 <br /> 5 <br />Shut-off and isolation valves 2" and smaller shall be ball valves. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Drain valves shall be 3/4" ball valves with a threaded hose adaptor and cap with chain. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Blowdown valves from Y-strainers shall be ball valves, full size of blowdown connection. 10 <br /> 11 <br /> 12 <br />VALVE INSTALLATION 13 <br /> 14 <br />Except as otherwise indicated, comply with the following requirements: 15 <br /> 16 <br />Install valves where required for proper operation of piping and equipment, including valves in branch 17 <br />lines to isolate sections of piping. Locate valves so as to be accessible and so that separate support can 18 <br />be provided when necessary. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Install valves with stems pointed up, in vertical position where possible, but in no case with stems pointed 21 <br />downward from horizontal plane. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Where piping is operating at or below 70°F temperature, valves shall be equipped with stem extensions. 24 <br />Provide a protective sleeve for stem extensions that allows operation of the valve without breaking the vapor seal or 25 <br />disturbing the insulation. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Where mechanical actuators with chain operators where indicated on the drawings or specified, extend chains to 5' 28 <br />above floor and hook to clips to clear aisle or passage. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Installation of Check Valves: 31 <br /> 32 <br />Swing check valves shall be installed in horizontal position, oriented with the direction of flow, with hinge pin 33 <br />horizontally perpendicular to center line of pipe or vertically with upward flow direction. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Wafer check valves shall be installed on each pump discharge between two flanges in a horizontal or 36 <br />vertical position, oriented for proper direction of flow. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Install calibrated balancing valves or automatic flow control valves at water coils as indicated on the Drawings. 39 <br /> 40 <br /> 41 <br />OWNER INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING 42 <br /> 43 <br />Provide Owner instruction and training in accordance with Section 019926. 44 <br /> 45 <br /> 46 <br />END OF SECTION 230523 47 <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 7668B866-6C26-485C-9A45-DAAB5D4BD951
