ORANGE COUNTY 230513-1 <br /> <br />Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification Electrical Motors for HVAC Equipment <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION 230513 - ELECTRICAL MOTORS FOR HVAC EQUIPMENT 1 <br /> 2 <br />PART 1 – GENERAL 3 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br />RELATED DOCUMENTS 6 <br /> 7 <br />Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 8 <br />Specification Sections, apply to the work of this Section. 9 <br /> 10 <br />The requirements specified herein shall govern all Sections in Division 23, whether stated therein or not. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Where items specified in the other sections of this Division conflict with requirements of this Section, the former shall 13 <br />govern. 14 <br /> 15 <br /> 16 <br />SUBMITTALS 17 <br /> 18 <br />General: Submittals shall demonstrate compliance with technical requirements by reference to each subsection of 19 <br />this specification. Where a submitted item does not comply fully with each and every requirement of the Specifica-20 <br />tions, the submittal shall clearly indicate such deviations. Identification requirements for non-complying features of 21 <br />items are very specific. See Section 019913 for exact requirements. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's technical product data and installation instructions for products specified 24 <br />in this Section. 25 <br /> 26 <br /> 27 <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS 28 <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br />MOTOR CHARACTERISTICS 31 <br /> 32 <br />Motors shall be rated for continuous duty at ambient temperature of 40 deg C and at altitude of 3300 feet above sea 33 <br />level. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Capacity and torque characteristics shall be sufficient for motor to start, accelerate, and operate connected loads at 36 <br />designated speeds, at installed altitude and environment, with indicated operating sequence, and without exceeding 37 <br />nameplate ratings or service factor. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Unless otherwise noted in the documents, Motors 1 hp and above shall be polyphase, suitable for electrical service 40 <br />indicated on the Drawings. Fractional horsepower motors shall be single phase, rated for operation at 120 V. 41 <br /> 42 <br />All motors shall meet the NEMA Premium™ Efficiency Standards. 43 <br /> 44 <br />All electric motor efficiencies shall comply with energy efficiency requirements of Code of Federal Regulations Title 45 <br />10, Chapter II, Part 431, Subpar B “Electric Motors”. 46 <br /> 47 <br /> 48 <br />SINGLE PHASE MOTORS 49 <br /> 50 <br />Constant speed motors larger than 1/20 hp and less than 1 hp shall be one of the following, to suit starting torque and 51 <br />requirements specified above: 52 <br /> 53 <br />Permanent-split capacitor. 54 <br />Split phase. 55 <br />Capacitor start, inductor run. 56 <br />Capacitor start, capacitor run. 57 <br /> 58 <br />Constant speed motors 1/20 hp and smaller shall be shaded-pole type. 59 <br /> 60 <br />Two-speed motors shall be variable-torque, permanent-split-capacitor type. 61 <br />62 <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 7668B866-6C26-485C-9A45-DAAB5D4BD951
