ORANGE COUNTY 019916 - 4 <br /> <br />Emergency Management Warehouse Building Dehumidification Divisions 23 and 26 <br /> Work in Existing Buildings <br /> <br /> <br />Control or monitoring systems that protect equipment and/or occupants must be maintained until associated 1 <br />equipment is removed. 2 <br /> 3 <br /> 4 <br />ELECTRICAL DEMOLITION 5 <br /> 6 <br />Coordinate all electrical outages with the Owner to facilitate reworking of existing system. No service, feeder, or 7 <br />branch circuit may be de-energized unless specific approval has been obtained from the Owner's representative. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Dispose of Removed Equipment and Material: Materials removed and not indicated by Drawings to be reinstalled, 10 <br />stored, or retained by the Owner, shall be removed from the site in a timely manner at the Contractor's expense. 11 <br /> 12 <br />The Owner may choose to retain selected items or equipment. The Contractor shall remove and deliver 13 <br />such items and/or equipment to a location on site as requested by the Owner. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Thoroughly inspect electrical systems in reworked areas and bring to the attention of the A-E all defective or 16 <br />unserviceable material not scheduled for removal or replacement. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Remove all abandoned wiring, both exposed and concealed. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Remove all abandoned raceway and any related items, both exposed and concealed. Where existing raceway is 21 <br />concealed in concrete or masonry, remove wiring as required above and abandon in place. Cut abandoned raceway 22 <br />off ½" into wall, ceiling, or floor to allow patching to completely cover cut off end of raceway. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Repair surfaces and finishes to match existing surrounding surfaces or finish in all areas where items are removed. 25 <br />After repairs are made no evidence of previous use of surfaces shall be visible. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Provide touch-up painting as required where new items are installed adjacent to existing items to remain. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Clean new, damaged, and/or disturbed areas and apply primer, intermediate, and finish coats at each 30 <br />location. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Surface preparation and timing of application of successive coats of paint shall be in accordance with paint 33 <br />manufacturer’s instructions. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Use zinc-rich paint to repair damage to galvanized finishes. Follow written instructions of paint 36 <br />manufacturer. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Repair paint finishes for other items, surfaces, or equipment as necessary. Follow written instructions of 39 <br />paint manufacturer. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Provide blank cover plates to match device plates used in the adjoining areas where outlet, device, junction, or other 42 <br />boxes are to remain, 43 <br /> 44 <br />Perform the electrical demolition as described below: 45 <br /> 46 <br />Remove all electrical raceway, cable, wiring, devices, junction boxes, fittings, and related items from all 47 <br />locations indicated on the Drawings as being renovated. Existing raceway, junction boxes, fittings, and 48 <br />similar items may only be reused for the present project where explicitly indicated on the Drawings, 49 <br />provided: 50 <br /> 51 <br />The existing item is in good condition and is suitable for reuse. 52 <br /> 53 <br />The existing items meets the requirements of the Specifications for similar items which might be 54 <br />provided new in other locations on the project.
