2 <br /> Carrie Doyle, Chair of the Orange County Board of Education, greeted everyone and <br /> introduced staff from the school system and members of the Orange County Board of <br /> Education. <br /> The Board discussed the various School related issues that are of interest to the Board <br /> of County Commissioners, Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) Board of Education and <br /> Orange County Schools (OCS) Board of Education. <br /> BACKGROUND: The County/Schools Collaboration Work Group established the agenda items <br /> for this Joint meeting. Orange County Staff trained on Human Trafficking and <br /> Child Abuse Prevention <br /> • GateKeeper Training <br /> • AVID programs,IB program, <br /> Sherita Cobb said the district was looking into culturally relevant mental health training for <br /> staff and students. She said they were also looking into gatekeeper training with all staff, <br /> including bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and custodians. She said all staff interact with <br /> students and make a difference in the lives of children. She said school counselors are <br /> supporting character education and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) work for students and <br /> staff, as well as adult SEL work. <br />
