Environment and Resource PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) NO <br />Conservation <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />1) Vicinity Map Tina Moon, Preservation Planner, ext 2583 <br />2) December 14, 2001 Letterfrom SHPO David Slar ERC Director e# 2590 <br />3) GIG Information& Sample Comment Forms TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />4) Public Hearing Notice Hillsborough 732$181 <br />5) National Register Nomination Chapel Hill 9684501 <br />Durham 688 -7331 <br />Mebane 336 - 221.2031 <br />PURPOSE: To mnsiderthe Historic Preservation Commission's recommendation that the <br />Holden- Roberts Farm be submitted for listing in the National Registerof Historic Places. <br />BACKGROUND: On December 14, 2001, the Historic Preservation Commission staff received <br />a letter from me State Historic Preservation Office (Attachment 42) with a National Register <br />Nomination on the Holden- RObeds Farm, located on St Mary's Road northeast of Hillsborough. <br />The National Register Nomination Form is provided at Attachment #5. <br />As a Comfort Local Government (FIG), Orange County has scaly (60) days from the dale of <br />submission of a National Register nomination to make comments on the proposal. It the <br />County does not comment on the proposed nomination by February 14, 2002, fie CounryS <br />approval is assumed. <br />In accordance with CLG guidelines, the Historic Preservation Commission is required to provide <br />an opportunity for public comment during the 51 period. To meet this requirement, the <br />Historic Preservation Commission held a public hearing at their meeting on January 30, 2002. <br />Notices of Public Hearing were published in accordance with the Historic Preservation <br />Ordinance and letters were sent via cenified mail to all property owners within Soo feel of the <br />property being nominated t0 the National Register. (The Notice of Public Hearing is provided as <br />Attachment #4). <br />Eliglbtity for the National Register is determined by a thorough evaluation of the historic <br />qualities and significance of a site structure, or area. Natural Registers nominations are <br />evaluated based on the following criteria: <br />
