4 <br /> Criminal Justice Resource Department <br /> 7. The NC Department of Public Safety has awarded the Orange County Local Reentry <br /> Council in the Criminal Justice Resource Department (CJRD) new funds in the amount of <br /> $57,500 to reimburse a peer support specialist dedicated to working with individuals in re- <br /> entry. The County will contract with Coastal Horizons to provide this specialist. Providing <br /> peer support specialists to people returning from incarceration will address inequities, <br /> barriers to stability, increase healthier outcomes and reduce recidivism. The period for this <br /> grant will be February 2022 to December 2022 and will be placed in the Multi-year Grant <br /> Fund, outside the General Fund. This creates the following grant ordinance: <br /> Local Reentry Council- Peer Support Specialist($57,500) - Project# 71376 <br /> Revenues for this project: <br /> Current FY 2021-22 FY 2021-22 <br /> FY 2021-22 Amendment Revised <br /> Grant Funds $0 $57,500 $57,500 <br /> Total Project Funding $0 $57,500 $57,500 <br /> Appropriated for this project: <br /> Current FY 2021-22 FY 2021-22 <br /> FY 2021-22 Amendment Revised <br /> Remediation Expenditures $0 $57,500 $57,500 <br /> Total Costs $0 $57,500 $57,500 <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION <br /> AND INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or <br /> color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national <br /> origin or ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential <br /> or economic status. <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> County Capital <br /> 8. The Orange County Emergency Management Services Building has experienced moisture <br /> inside the wall cavities which has resulted in additional investigation, troubleshooting, and <br /> repair work to mitigate the damages. Orange County Asset Management Services (AMS) <br /> along with Risk Management, the County Attorney's Office, and Emergency Services is <br /> working jointly to resolve the issues and restore the building to a healthy building status. <br /> Additional project funding is needed for professional services to assist with the mitigation <br /> efforts and to perform additional studies to determine the next steps.
