White Cross Fire <br /> Department Fund Balance <br /> Letter of Request <br /> PURPOSE: To approve a budget amendment for Fiscal Year 2021-22. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Health <br /> 1. The Health Department has received the following additional funds: <br /> • Refugee Health Assessments—The North Carolina Department of Health and Human <br /> Services (NCDHHS) has awarded the Orange County Health Department an additional <br /> $2,600 to be used to address an increase in refugee arrivals to Orange County. Funds <br /> will be used for contract interpreters and translators. <br /> • Smiles for Kids — Delta Dental Foundation has awarded $2,500 for Kid-Friendly <br /> Improvements to the Dental Clinic to support the oral health of children in Orange <br /> County. Funding will be used towards bibs, teeth cleaning tools, light covers, and books. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION <br /> AND INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or <br /> color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national <br />
