The Board of County Commissioners approved an increase of funding totaling <br /> $92,236 (County contribution of$73,286)for the FY2021-22 Dental Fund. The total Dental budget <br /> is currently $639,000 and no increase is recommended for FY2022-23. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The FY 2022-23 Health and Dental Fund budget request is anticipated to <br /> increase by $626,813. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following two Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION AND <br /> INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or color; <br /> religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national origin or ethnic <br /> background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential or economic status. <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding necessary <br /> for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for themselves and their <br /> dependents. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board: <br /> 1) approve an increase of 5% to the Health Insurance Premium Equivalents for both active <br /> and pre-65 retirees with the amount of the increase to be fully paid by the County; <br /> 2) approve moving forward with Dental Insurance as outlined above (no changes); and <br /> 3) approve the County continuing to participate as a member in the North Carolina Health <br /> Insurance Pool (NCHIP). <br />
