He has been an active participant on the
Council since his partial term appointment in June 2021.
The Council also has discussed two positions whose terms are expiring March 31, and recommends that
the following applicants be appointed to the Council for these slots:
• Rebecca Truluck,to the Hillsborough Township position(position#2)and
• Jessie Birckhead,to the At-Large position(position#12)
Both terms to take effect April 1,2022 at the conclusion of the current member terms.
After receiving a presentation on February 2 on the One Orange Countywide Racial Equity Framework,
the Council discussed finding new ways to reach out to communities to promote diversity in terms of
applicants. Staff is working with the Public Information Office and the Clerk's Office on ways to engage
the community via new outreach efforts and applicants. The PRC hopes to bring recommendations to the
Board for the other vacancies on PRC as a result of this effort.
Thank you for your consideration of these appointments.
Sincerely,
John Greeson, Chair
Chair,Parks and Recreation Council
Copies: Xilong Zhao,Vice-Chair
Parks and Recreation Council
David Stancil,DEAPR Director
