262 <br />line crossing the Jones Ferry Road 1.25 miles northeasterly from its <br />intersection with the Orange and Chatham County line; crossing Antioch <br />Road at its intersection with N. C. secondary road ##5163, crossing N. C. <br />Highway ##54 just west of Bates store, crossing N. C. secondary road #56 <br />at Bethel Church, a total distance of 39,177 feet to the intersection <br />of N. C, secondary road #512 with the paved road that leads from Dodson's <br />Crossroads southeasterly to Calvander (N. C. secondary road ¢#511); thence <br />along and with the center of said N. C. secondary road ;#512 in a north- <br />easterly direction 1,584 feet to a point in the center of said road; <br />thence south 723E 30' east 4,382 feet to a point in the center of the east <br />side of loop road, said point being 3,696 feet north of the first inter- <br />section north of Neville's Store; thence south 80* 45' east 4,752 feet <br />to a point in the center of the old N..C. highway #66, said point being <br />2,640 feet north of the first intersection of Calvander; thence south 74* <br />001 east 8,190 feet to the beginning point. <br />Endorsed and Approved <br />Chapel Hill City Board of Education <br />/s/ J. Johnson, Secretary <br />The County Attorney presented to the Board the following resolution pertaining <br />to the requested Chapel Hill School Distriction speciel-election. <br />RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF ORANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, ORDERING <br />AND CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE CHAPEL HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT DETERMINING <br />WHETHER THE SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTARY SCHOOL TAX SHALL BE INCREASED NOT TO EXCEED 35gfi <br />PER HUNDRED DOLLAR VALUATION. <br /> <br />Commissioner McDade moved that the following resolution be adopted: <br />WHEREAS, The Chapel Hill City Board of Education by resolution dated March 19, <br />1962, has requested and petitioned the Board of Commissioners of Orange County, North:;, <br />Carolina, to call an election in the area comprising the Chapel Hill School District <br />to determine the will of the people on the following question: <br />"Shall there be levied and collected within the area constituting the <br />Chapel Hill School District an additional special tax, over and above <br />the present 20g per hundred dollar property valuation special tax <br />now in effect, increasing said 20¢ per hundred dollar valuation special <br />tax to not exceeding 35X per hundred dollar property valuation withih <br />said area, to further supplement the current expense funds from State <br />and County allotments and thereby operate schools of the Chapel Hill <br />Administrative Unit within the Chapel Hill School.District of a higher <br />standard by supplementing any item of expenditure in the school budget?" <br />AND WHEREAS, that on said petition, copy of which is attached hereto, that the <br />Board of County Commissioners is required to hold said election: NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Orange County as follows: <br />1. That a special election be held on Saturday, May 26, 1962, in the area <br />described in the petition of the Chapel Hill City Board of Education, and also herein- <br />after set forth in the Notice of Special Election, which area constitutes the Chapel <br />Hill School District of Orange County for the purpose of submitting to the qualified <br />voters in-said area and district the following question: <br />"Shall there be levied and collected within the area constituting the <br />the Chapel Hill School District an additional special tax, over and <br />above the present 20? per hundred dollar property valuation special <br />tax now in effect, increasing said 20¢ per hundred dollar valuation <br />special tax to not exceeding 35? per hundred dollar property valuation <br />within said area, to further supplement the current expense funds <br />from State and County allotments and thereby operate schools of the <br />Chapel Hill Administrative Unit within the Chapel Hill School District <br />of a higher standard by supplementing any item of expenditure in the <br />school budget?" <br />Said election shall be held pursuant to and in accordance with the pertinent <br />provisions of Chapter 115, Subchapter V, of the General Statutes of North Carolina and <br />the laws governing general elections. <br />2. The polling places within the Chapel Hill School District, which are designs <br />3d below in the form of Notice of Special Election to be held and the polls-for said <br />:lection shall open and close at the hours specified in said Notice. The election <br />)fficials whose names appear in said Notice have been duly appointed by the Board of <br />,ommissioners Supplemental registration for the qualified voters in said school <br />3istrict for Patterson and Cole's Store precinct is ordered as set forth in said <br />Totice of Special Election. <br />3. The Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners is hereby authorized and <br />lirected to publish Notice of said special election in The 'News of Orange County
