The Contractor shall make provisions at all times to allow natural drainage <br />to flow through the work area with minimum damage to the new <br />construction and/or existing downstream storm drain system. The <br />Contractor shall at no time allow drainage to back up or be diverted onto <br />private property. The Contractor shall pay for all damages that may result <br />by failing to maintain drainage flow. <br />I. Pipe shall be laid in true straight lines with the bell ends upstream and with <br />the invert of the pipe being the true elevation and grade of the system. <br />The Contractor shall establish and maintain the horizontal alignment and <br />vertical elevation and grade of the system in accordance with the survey <br />information indicated on the Drawings. <br />J. As each length of pipe is placed in the trench, the joint shall be assembled <br />and the pipe brought to correct line and grade. Pipe bedding shall be in <br />accordance with Section 31 20 00 ± Earthwork. The pipe shall be secured <br />in place with approved backfill material in accordance with Section 31 20 <br />00± Earthwork. <br />K. The horizontal alignment of the pipe shall be maintained by a transit or <br />theodolite plumbed over the center of the downstream manhole. The <br />vertical elevation and grade may be maintained by an ad justable laser <br />level mounted at the invert of the downstream manhole with target(s) <br />placed in the bell end of the pipe being laid. <br />3.04 JOINTING <br />A. The Contractor shall not use excavation equipment to push the pipe into <br />the home position, unless approved by the Engineer, and then only for <br />one length of pipe at a time. <br />B. The Contractor shall join the pipe as recommended by the manufacturer to <br />obtain the degree of water tightness required. The use of lubricants, <br />primers, adhesives and similar materials shall be as rec ommended by the <br />manufacturers. <br />3.05 INSTALLATION OF STRUCTURES <br />Structures shall be constructed to the required height to insure that the grates, <br />rings and covers, etc., will be set at the finished grade. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION 33 44 00 <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: BBF56E0A-3618-497E-AA70-92F097E8F598
