<br />High Rock Road Waste & Recycling Center Improvements 33 30 00 - 16 <br />Orange County Solid Waste MARCH 2019 <br />DAA PN R00592-213N <br /> <br />expense and exposed to the Engineer at least 100' ahe ad of pipe laying <br />operations of insure the correctness of grades. Existing utilities shown on <br />the Plans are as accurately located as existing records and field surveys <br />allow; however, the Contractor shall verify with the various utility <br />companies before excavating and shall save harmless the Owner from <br />any claims for damages as a result of this work. <br /> <br />M. The Contractor shall at all times take necessary precautions in preventing <br />gutters, catch basins, ditches and other drainage facilities from being <br />clogged that might cause flooding conditions and damage to public or <br />private properties. <br /> <br />N. Rock Removal, Blasting <br /> <br />1. In rock or other unyielding material, the excavation shall be made at <br />least 6" below subgrade elevation. The trench shall be refilled with <br />select material compacted in place as specified for ordinary <br />excavation. Suitable material from excavation may be used, if <br />available. If not, it shall be hauled in. Select material used in <br />trench after rock excavation shall be included in the cost of rock <br />excavation. <br /> <br />2. If rock is encountered, it shall be paid for at the unit price set forth <br />in the Bid. Only solid rock requiring blasting or drilling for its <br />removal will be classified as rock excavation. Allowance will be <br />made for a width of the trench not in excess of 16" greater than the <br />outside diameter of the bell of the pipe and a depth from the <br />surface of the rock to be established subgra de of the pipeline. <br />Rock excavated in excess of these limits will not be paid for. The <br />Engineer shall measure the amount of rock excavation to be <br />classified as such before the trench is backfilled. No payment will <br />be made for rock excavation which is backfilled before <br />measurement by the Engineer. <br /> <br />3. All blasting, where required, shall be done under the personal <br />supervision of a man thoroughly skilled in this class of work. All <br />necessary measures to protect life and property shall be taken. <br />When in close proximity to buildings, transmission lines, telephone <br />lines or other facilities, timber mats or other means of preventing <br />damage from flying debris shall be used. Ample and suitable <br />signals shall be given in proximity to the work before each blast, <br />and flagmen shall be placed on all roads, beyond the danger zone, <br />in every direction to warn traffic. All responsibility for damage rests <br />on the Contractor. <br /> <br />O.
