<br />High Rock Road Waste & Recycling Center Improvements 33 30 00 - 8 <br />Orange County Solid Waste MARCH 2019 <br />DAA PN R00592-213N <br /> <br />PVC composite pipe meets all requirements of ASTM D2680, except for material <br />composition. <br /> <br />2.6 Steel Encasement Pipe: Steel encasement pipe shall be bituminous c oated <br />inside and outside. Bituminous coating shall be 6 mil. minimum thickness. <br />Encasement pipe for installation under highways and railroads shall be spiral <br />welded steel pipe conforming to ASTM Specification A252 -61, Grade 2. <br />Encasement pipe shall conform to DOT specifications for pipe laying for highway <br />crossings and to AREA specifications for railroad crossings. <br /> <br />2.7 Service Lines: Temporary and permanent service lines shall be polyvinyl <br />chloride (PVC) as defined above in 2.4 and 2.5. <br /> <br />2.8 Tees, Wyes, and Miscellaneous Fittings: Fittings for service connections on new <br />main lines shall be the same material as the main and shall co nform to the above <br />applicable specifications. A tapping saddle shall be used for service taps on <br />existing mains. All fittings for cleanout assemblies shall be the same material as <br />the service line pipe including combination wye and bend, vertical riser, and <br />cleanout plug and cap. All service connections shall conform to the details as <br />shown on the Plans. <br /> <br /> <br />2.9 MANHOLE MATERIAL <br /> <br />A. Manhole material shall consist of brick, concrete block, or precast <br />concrete in accordance with the following requirements. All mat erial shall <br />be approved by the Engineer prior to use. <br /> <br />B. Brick shall be no. 2 Common, or equal, hard clay, or shale, free from <br />cracks and defects that would impair their strength of usefulness. Brick <br />shall conform to ASTM C32, Grade MM. <br /> <br />C. Concrete manhole blocks shall be units meeting the requirements of <br />ASTM Specification C139. Masonry units shall consist of barrel and cone <br />block 6" thick, 72" high and not over 152" long. Barrel block shall be cast <br />to a radius which will result in approximately 12 units to the course for a 4' <br />diameter manhole, and proportionally thereto for manholes of greater <br />diameter than 4'. Cone block shall be cast to produce a reduction of 6" in <br />diameter per course. All units shall have a vertical groove at the ends. <br /> <br />D. Precast concrete manholes shall consist of precast reinforced concrete <br />sections, a conical or flat top section as required, and a base section <br />conforming in general to the details shown on the Plans. Precast manhole <br />sections shall be manufactured in accordance with ASTM Spec ification <br />C478. The minimum compressive strength of the concrete for all sections <br />shall be 4,000 psi.
