<br />High Rock Road Waste and Recycling Center Improvements 32 92 00 - 8 <br />Orange County, North Carolina JULY 2021 <br />DAA PN: R00592-213N <br /> <br />3.9 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br />A. Contractor will employ a qualified independent testing agency to perform soil tests on <br />topsoil and base soil after site has been fine graded and prior to seedin g. Soil labora- <br />tory will analyze soil and recommend soil amendments needed. <br />1. Contractor must amend soil with types and quantities of amendments recom- <br />mended. <br />2. Following soil amendment application, testing laboratory will again perform soil <br />tests to verify proper application. <br />B. Submit preliminary and final testing reports. <br />1. Soil test parameters are given in the schedule following Part 3. <br />C. &RQWUDFWRU¶V testing agency will test topsoil distribution for minimum depth require- <br />ment. <br />1. Contractor shall supply suitable topsoil to supplement topsoil distributed if mini- <br />mum depth does not meet requirements. <br />2. Testing agency will verify soil depth and proper soil amendments meet specifica- <br />tions prior to seeding. <br />3.10 CLEANUP AND PROTECTION <br />A. Promptly remove soil and debris created by lawn work from paved areas. Clean <br />wheels of vehicles before leaving site to avoid tracking soil onto surface of roads, <br />walks, or other paved areas. <br />B. Erect barricades and warning signs as required to protect newly planted areas from <br />traffic. Maintain barricades throughout maintenance period until lawn is established. <br />3.11 OWNER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTION <br />A. 3URYLGHLQVWUXFWLRQWR2ZQHU¶VSHUVRQQHORQSU <br />1. Provide written instructions and demonstration of proper watering, mowing, and <br />fertilizing techniques. <br />3.12 PLANTING SOIL AMENDMENTS SCHEDULE <br />A. Lawns: Provide soil amendments required to provide planting medium within the fol- <br />lowing parameters: <br />1. Soil pH range: 5.8 ± 6.2. <br />2. Phosphorus index of 50; equivalent to 60 ppm P (137 ppm P2O5). <br />3. Potassium index of 50, equivalent to 100 ppm K (120 ppm K2O). <br />4. Calcium equivalent to 40 ± 60 percent of Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) (Ca% <br />= (Ca/CEC). <br />5. Magnesium equivalent to 8 ± 15 percent of CEC (Mg% = (Mg/CEC). <br />6. Base Sat equivalent to 60 ± 80 percent of CEC (BS% = ((Ca + Mg + K)/CEC). <br />7. Manganese Index Mn-I 25 equivalent to 4.0 ppm. <br />8. Zinc Index Zn-I 25 equivalent to 1.0 ppm Zn. <br />9.
