Immediately clean damaged or <br />stained areas. <br />E. Protect seeded areas against hot, dry weather or drying winds by applying peat mulch <br />within 24 hours after completion of seeding operations. Soak and scatter uniformly to <br />a depth of 3/16 inch thick and roll to a smooth surface. <br />3.6 HYDROSEEDING NEW LAWNS <br />A. Hydroseeding: Mix specified seed, fertilizer, and fiber mulch in water, using equipment <br />specifically designed for hydroseed application. Continue mixing until un iformly blend- <br />ed into homogenous slurry suitable for hydraulic application. <br />1. Mix slurry with nonasphaltic tackifier. <br />2. Apply slurry uniformly to all areas to be seeded in a 2 -step process. Apply first <br />slurry application at the minimum rate of 500 lb per acre dry weight but not less <br />than the rate required to obtain specified seed-sowing rate. Apply slurry cover coat <br />of fiber mulch at a rate of 1000 lb per acre. <br />3.7 RECONDITIONING LAWNS <br />A. Recondition all existing lawn areas indicated. <br />B. Where substantial existing lawn remains, mow, dethatch, core aerate, and rake. Re- <br />move weeds before seeding. Where weeds are extensive, apply selective herbicides <br />as required. Do not use pre-emergence herbicides. <br />C. Remove waste and foreign materials, including weeds, grass, vegetation, and tu rf, <br />and legally dispose of it off the Owner's property. <br />D. Till stripped, bare, and compacted areas thoroughly to a depth of 6 inches. <br />E. Apply required soil amendments and initial fertilizers. Provide new planting soil as re- <br />quired to fill low spots and meet new finish grades. <br />F. Apply seed using seed drilling method, and protect with straw mulch as required for <br />new lawns. <br />G. Water newly planted areas and keep moist until new grass is established. <br />3.8 SATISFACTORY LAWN <br />A. Seeded lawns will be satisfactory provided requirement s, including maintenance, <br />have been met and a healthy, uniform, close stand of grass is established, free of <br />weeds, bare spots exceeding 5 by 5 inches, and surface irregularities. <br />B. Replant lawns that do not meet requirements and continue maintenance until l awns <br />are satisfactory. <br />C.
