Use rapid setting tack in pedestrian traffic areas. <br />D. Non-asphaltic Tackifier: Colloidal tackifier recommended by fiber-mulch manufacturer <br />for slurry application, nontoxic and free of plant growth- or germination-inhibitors. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 TEMPORARY VEGETATIVE COVER FOR EROSION CONTROL <br />A. Grade areas to be seeded as necessary to establish stability, prevent erosion, and to <br />provide maintenance of temporary vegetative cover during the course of construction. <br />B. Seed areas as required by Seed Mixtures Schedule at end of this Section. <br />C. Maintenance: Maintain temporary vegetative cover by fertilizing, mowing, irrigation, <br />repair of planting failures, and other necessary means for the required duration . <br />1. Maintain temporary vegetative cover at maximum 6 inch height. <br />3.2 EXAMINATION <br />A. Examine areas to receive lawns and grass for compliance with requirements and for <br />conditions affecting performance of work of this Section. Do not proceed with installa- <br />tion until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. <br />1. Verify depth of topsoil at 4 inch minimum throughout area to receive seed. <br />2. Report deficient conditions in writing to Architect. <br />3.3 PREPARATION <br />A. Protect structures, utilities, sidewalks, pavements, and other facilit ies, trees, shrubs, <br />and plantings from damage caused by planting operations. <br />1. Protect adjacent and adjoining areas from hydroseed overspraying. <br />B. Provide erosion-control measures to prevent erosion or displacement of soils and dis- <br />charge of soil-bearing water runoff or airborne dust to adjacent properties and walk- <br />ways. <br />3.4 PLANTING SOIL PREPARATION <br />A. Limit subgrade preparation to areas that will be planted in the immediate future. <br />B. Loosen subgrade to a minimum depth of 4 inches. Remove stones larger than 1 inch- <br />es in any dimension and sticks, roots, rubbish, and other extraneous matter. <br />C. Mix soil amendments and fertilizers with topsoil at rates indicated. Delay mixing ferti- <br />lizer if planting does not follow placing of planting soil within a few days. Either mix <br />soil before spreading or apply soil amendments on surface of spread topsoil and mix <br />thoroughly into top 4 inches of topsoil before planting. <br />1. A "Planting Soil Amendments Schedule" is included at the end of this Section. <br />2.
