<br />High Rock Road Waste and Recycling Center Improvements 32 92 00 - 3 <br />Orange County, North Carolina JULY 2021 <br />DAA PN: R00592-213N <br /> <br />2. Add new mulch in areas where mulch has been disturbed by wind or maintenance <br />operations sufficiently to nullify its purpose. Anchor as required to prevent dis- <br />placement. <br />C. Watering: Provide and maintain temporary piping, hoses, and lawn-watering equip- <br />ment to convey water from sources and to keep lawns uniformly moist to a depth of 4 <br />inches. <br />1. Water lawn at the minimum rate of 1 inch per week. <br />D. Mow lawns as soon as there is enough top growth to cut with mower set at specified <br />height for principal species planted. Repeat mowing as required to maintain specified <br />height without cutting more than 40 percent of the grass height. Remove no more <br />than 40 percent of grass-leaf growth in initial or subsequent mowings. Do not delay <br />mowing until grass blades bend over and become matted. Do not mow when grass is <br />wet. Schedule initial and subsequent mowings to maintain following grass height: <br />1. Maintain grass at 3 inch high. <br />2. Mow grass when grass exceeds 4 inch high. <br />3. If grass exceeds 4-1/2 inch high, mow grass removing maximum of 1-1/2 inch. Al- <br />low grass to recover for minimum 4 days, and mow again. Repeat as required until <br />grass is maintained at required 3 inch height. <br />4. If grass exceeds 8 inch high, till grass under and reseed. <br />E. Postfertilization: Apply fertilizer to lawn after first mowing and when grass is dry. <br />1. Use fertilizer that will provide actual nitrogen of at least 1 lb per 1000 sq. ft. of lawn <br />area. <br />F. Weed Control: Contractor is responsible for control of weed growth. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 SEED <br />A. Grass Seed: Fresh, clean, dry, Blue-Tag certified seed complying with the Official <br />Crop Certifying Agency of North Carolina. <br />1. Seed Mixture: Provide seed of grass species and varieties, proportions by weight, <br />and minimum percentages of purity, germination, and maximum percentage of <br />weed seed as indicated on Schedules at the end of this Section. <br />2.2 TOPSOIL <br />A. ASTM D 5268, pH range of 5.5 to 7, 4 percent organic material minimum, free of <br />stones 1 inch or larger in any dimension, and other extraneous materials harmful to <br />plant growth. <br />1. Topsoil Source: Reuse surface soil stockpiled on the site. Verify suitability of sur- <br />face soil to produce topsoil meeting requirements and amend when necessary. <br />Supplement with imported topsoil when quantities are insufficient.
