[Include special instructions for sprig-planted lawns. <br />1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced Installer who has completed land- <br />scaping work similar in material, design, and extent to that indicated for this Project <br />and with a record of successful grass establishment. <br />1. Installer's Field Supervision: Require Installer to maintain an experienced full-time <br />supervisor on the Project site during times that grass planting is in progress. <br />B. Topsoil Analysis: Furnish a soil analysis made by a qualified independent soil -testing <br />agency stating percentages of organic matter, inorganic matter (silt, clay, and sand), <br />deleterious material, pH, and mineral and plant-nutrient content of topsoil. <br />1. Report suitability of topsoil for lawn growth. State recommended quantities of ni- <br />trogen, phosphorus, and potash nutrients and any limestone, aluminum sulfate, or <br />other soil amendments to be added to produce a sati sfactory topsoil. <br />C. Preinstallation Conference: Conduct conference at Project site to comply with re- <br />quirements. <br />1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING <br />A. Seed: Deliver seed in original sealed, labeled, and undamaged containers. <br />1.5 COORDINATION AND SCHEDULING <br />A. Planting Season: Sow lawn seed during normal planting seasons for type of lawn <br />work required. Correlate planting with specified maintenance periods to provide re- <br />quired maintenance from date of Substantial Completion. <br />1. Proceed with and complete grassing work as portions of the site become availa- <br />ble, working within seasonal limitations for each kind of grassing work required. <br />a. Plant areas greater than 5 acres in size within 2 weeks o f availability. <br />B. Weather Limitations: Proceed with planting only when existing and forecast weather <br />conditions are suitable for work. <br />1.6 MAINTENANCE <br />A. Begin maintenance of lawns immediately after each area is planted and continue until <br />acceptable lawn is established, but for not less than the following periods: <br />1. Seeded Lawns: 60 days after date of Substantial Completion. <br />a. When full maintenance period has not elapsed before end of planting season, <br />or if lawn is not fully established at that time, continue maintenance during next <br />planting season. <br />B. Maintain and establish lawns by watering, fertilizing, weeding, mowing, trimming, re- <br />planting, and other operations. Roll, re-grade, and replant bare or eroded areas and <br />re-mulch to produce a uniformly smooth lawn. <br />1.
