Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) <br /> staff proposed the Board of Education members' annual stipend increase along with other district <br /> employee wages according to the table below at the Board of Education's January 20, 2022 <br /> meeting: <br /> CHCCS Proposed Stipend Increase <br /> FY 2021-22 FY 2021-22 <br /> Position Annual Stipend Annual Stipend Difference <br /> (Current) (Proposed) <br /> Board Chair Stipend (1) $4,999 $5,124 $125 <br /> Board Vice Chair Stipend (1) $4,275 $4,381 $106 <br /> Board Member Stipend (5) $3,912 $4,010 $98 <br /> Total $28,834 $29,555 $721 <br /> Under North Carolina General Statute 115C-38 and per the authority set in North Carolina General <br /> Statute 153A-92, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) sets the compensation of board <br /> of education members annually during the budget approval process. <br /> "The tax-levying authority for a local school administrative unit may, under the procedures of <br /> G.S. 153A-92, fix the compensation and expense allowances paid members of the board of <br />
