3 <br /> RES-2022-007 Attachment 1 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA'S <br /> SCHOOL EMPLOYEE SALARY INCREASE TO BE APPLIED TO MEMBERS <br /> OF THE CHAPEL HILL CARRBORO CITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> WHEREAS, in November 2022 the North Carolina Legislature passed and Governor <br /> Cooper signed into law the 2021-2022 State Budget; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State Budget provides for a 2.5% salary increase for public school <br /> employees; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statue §115C-38 provides that a local tax levying <br /> board may "fix the compensation and expense allowances paid members of the board <br /> of education of that local school administrative unit;" and <br /> WHEREAS, the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools Board of Education has requested <br /> it be allowed to increase its member stipend by the same 2.5% authorized by the State <br /> Budget; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools <br /> Board of Education is authorized to increase its member stipend by the same 2.5% <br /> that is currently authorized by the State Budget for public school employees. <br /> Adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners this 17th day of February, <br /> 2022. <br /> By: Attest: <br /> Renee Price, Chair Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> [SEAL] <br />
