Outside Agencies/Human Services <br /> NEW PHIS YEAR <br /> Consistent with our commitment to equity and inclusion,the Towns of Chapel Hill,Carrboro,and Orange County , <br /> Government are taking steps together to center racial equity in the Human Services Funding Program.Over the <br /> course of the next year,the Towns and County will conduct a comprehensive racial-equity analysis of the program <br /> and we are requesting basic information about your organization's racial equity work. . <br /> a. Please describe how you have involved the intended beneficiaries of the proposed project in the <br /> planning and design process(in 10(words or less). <br /> We have been running our afterschool progiam for 8 years at Carrboro Elementary and with Durham <br /> Public Schools. When we plan and organiz our programs, we contact the afterschool directors or <br /> managers. Through our communication, w get them highly involved in the development of their own <br /> program. This allows us to tailor each individual school's request and helps best fit their needs. We <br /> also do a teacher training where the teaches can learn our program activities and teach the nature <br /> connection to their students on their own time. <br /> b. How has your organization incorpofated racial equity goals into your organizational goals? <br /> PWC has a staff-led diversity, equity, and in lusion (DEI) task force open to all staff. With drop-ins <br /> from board members, the task force focuses on identifying how to grow diversity among staff and <br /> program participants. We provide resources to staff, campers, and the public about diversity and <br /> inclusion in a workplace and a camp setting. The board is forming a DEI committee to develop an <br /> action plan and work with the task force to increase our reach to people of color and underserved <br /> communities to continue to diversify our staff and participants. <br /> c. Please fill in the below questions and provide any additional context on the racial composition of the <br /> organization and board leadership: <br /> i. %of staff that are Black,Indigenous,or People of Color(BIPOC) : 27% <br /> *Part time staff that work seasonal. <br /> Ii. %of board that are BIPOC:S0% <br /> Ill. %of staff that have attended racial equity training: 90% <br /> *This is only for our program coordinators and administrative staff. <br /> d. Please describe any additional activities your organization is doing to address racial equity. <br /> Our core-staff attended Diversity and Equity in Environmental Programs (DEEP) Collaborative to <br /> examine case studies of local events involving environmental justice and <br /> Intersections of race, class, gender, etc. Staff will attend Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion <br /> workshop this spring. <br /> We attended the 2021 Let's Talk Racism conference held by WE Are and NC Central University. We <br /> broadened our library to include topics of racial, environmental, and LGBTQ+justice. <br /> Cover Page Page 7 of 21 <br />
