I ve supported my chiildren (now 18 and 22) in the Chapel Hill Carrboro <br /> schools for the past decade as well as in their local extracurricular activities (e.g., Triangle <br /> Youth Ballet). I commuted to New York for work for several years and served on the <br /> board of Youth INC, a venture philanthropy organization building capacity in nonprofits <br /> serving youth in the five boroughs. I d love to see some of those learnings applied locally <br /> and regionally in the Triangle. I have also been active in the professional community of <br /> consulting psychologists in organizations, promoting guidelines for ethical and <br /> professional standards, as reflected in a recent publication I co-authored in the American <br /> Psychologist (https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2019-39191-007). On a smaller scale, I <br /> have volunteered for local efforts such as Habitat for Humanity, waste warriors at the <br /> Durham Food Truck Rodeo, and various events of LIFESkills, a Durham non-profit <br /> supporting the transition of youth/young adults aging out of foster care, where my <br /> husband is on the board.
