10
Relevant Experience Board #1
Please see above for a general biographical overview of my community activities and interests. Member,
Orange-Durham Cattlemen's Association (since 2008) Board Member, Orange-Durham Cattlemen's
Association (since 2016) Recruited candidate (twice) for the USDA FSA County Advisory Committee
Reasons Want to Serve Board#1
I am very interested in exploring and facilitating preservation of rural communities in Orange County. On
our property, we have the foundational ruins of the original Oaks Post Office/General Store and a
historical roadbed. We enrolled in the VAD program in 2019 and continue exploring other ways to ensure
long term conservation/preservation of our property as agricultural land. I think it is vitally important for
information to be shared with farmers and land owners to help support and preserve our agricultural
history and resources.
Diversity of Viewpoints Board #1
My background in public health affords deep appreciation of the interconnectedness of our physical,
historical and social/political environments on individual and community well-being. Population growth
combined with climate pressures are critical forces that will impact our collective well-being, requiring us
to be forward thinking in how we manage land resources to balance the need for local food production,
open space, and historical preservation.
Conflict of Interest Board #1
None --except at the point of renewal of our VAD for which I would seek to be excused from voting.
Relevant Experience Board #2
Reasons Want to Serve Board #2
Diversity of Viewpoints Board #2
Conflict of Interest Board #2
Reasons Want to Serve Board #3
Relevant Experience Board #3
Diversity of Viewpoints Board #3
Elizabeth G Hooten
