The Board «-ill discuss the next steps regarding the examination of potential impacts resulting from a <br />possible merger of the Orange County Schools and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools a provide <br />appropriate direction to staff. <br />b. Proposed Addenda to Interlocal Agreement on C"HCCS Hi~b School #3 <br />The Board will consider approval of two addenda to the interlocal agreement that became effective on <br />August 7, 2003 regarding the planned third Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) high school and <br />provide appropriate direction to staff regarding how to proceed with CHCCS to inco7porate smart growth <br />provisions into the CHCCS third high school project. <br />c. biterim Management and Operations Services Contract `~vith the Anmal Protection Society far the <br />Orange County Animal Shelter <br />The Board will consider approving a contract negotiated by County staff with :4nimal Protection Society <br />(APS) to provide interim management and operations services for the Orange County Animal Shelter from <br />February 1, 2004 tluough June 30, 2004 in the amount of $44,470 per month, subject to final review by the <br />County Manager and County Attorney. <br />d. Southern Orange Senior Center Planning Process <br />The Board will consider outlining the planning, design, and construction process for the Southern Orange <br />Senior Center, including timeline; and to recommend planning committee structure and schedule <br />appointments to be made at the first Board meeting in 2004 (January 26). <br />e. Soccer Superfund -Policy and Guidelines <br />The Board will consider a draft policy and set of guidelines for use of the Soccer Superfund and provide <br />feedback and input to staff. The document would be brought back for action at a subsequent meeting. <br />f. Emergency Power Sources for County Buildings <br />The Board «-ill consider the need for and authorize staff to take certain steps towards providing backup <br />power capabilities at key County facilities during electrical outages; and authorize staffto retain the services <br />of an electrical engineer to design the wiring schematic for both the Southern Human Services Center and <br />the Government Services Center, so that both buildings will be "generator ready"; and authorize staff to <br />proceed with bidding both projects for Board award as expeditiously as practical; and instruct staff to <br />conduct a process to identify a consultant(s) for the Board to consider who t~-~ould be retained to investigate <br />the feasibility and cost of using other "off the grid" systems to provide backup power in other County <br />buildings; and adopt the accompanying Emergency Power Capital Project Ordinance. <br />g. *Ap~ointmettts <br />{I) *Affordable Housing Advisory Board <br />The Board «~ill consider an appointment to the Affordable Housing Advisor Board (AHAB). <br />(2) Animal Shelter Operations Task Force <br />The Board will consider appointments to the Animal Shelter Operations Task Force. <br />(3) *Commission for the Environment <br />The Board will consider making an appointment to the Commission for the Environment (CFE). <br />{4) *Visitors Bureau ofCha»el HilU4range County <br />The Board will consider one reappointment and one new appointment to the Visitors Bureau of <br />Chapel/Orange County (Visitors Bureau). <br />(S) *Chat~el Hill Planning Board <br />The Board will consider one reappointment and one new appointment or continuation of term on the <br />Chapel Hill Planning Board. <br />(6) 'Homestead and Hiali School Roads Safety Taslz Force <br />The Board will consider appointments to the Homestead and High School Roads Safety Task Force. <br />10. *REPORTS <br />a. ~ btjhittecl Human Services Center - Undrrte on Renavati©ns and Snare All©cation <br />
