o Drs. Pickett and Driehuys assisted AS in finding shelter for a homeless person and his <br /> dog and providing tick treatment so the dog could accompany the owner to shelter. <br /> o Still searching for placement of wolf-dogs (Asheville, Maine),but they are not <br /> "adoptable." Some are starting to show stress behaviors,but they are being treated <br /> with medication as needed and are allowed to run alone in enclosures. <br /> o Shelter medicine student training to be held at the shelter and at Saving Grace. <br /> - Pat Sanford Grant <br /> 0 2 applicants reviewed by the committee <br /> o No recommendation made to the ASAB at this time <br /> o Committee will present its recommendation to the ASAB by email to vote on the <br /> recipient before the next meeting if there is a time constraint <br /> Review of public participation guidelines <br /> General public comments on items not on agenda: NA <br /> Monthly Meeting Attendance Record (confirm completion): Confirmed <br /> Animal Services Advisory Board <br /> Old Business: <br /> - Update on Wolf/Dog hybrids <br /> o WRAL reported on wolf-dog ("Gurl")killed in Orange County <br /> o Ed Tiryakian drafted a letter from ASAB in response (but did not send it). <br /> o Dr. Strong has not received negative feedback from the BOCC and the County <br /> Manager has been very supportive and feels that it is not necessary to send it <br /> - Updates from Second Chance Committee <br /> o Enforce the County ordinance in a comprehensive/holistic way by looking at the <br /> context <br /> o Unable to change the local ordinance <br /> - Remote Location Committee <br /> o Public schools will not allow members of public into schools, so this is not an option <br /> for a location <br /> o Need to report to Clerk by mid-December dates and locations of 2022 meetings <br /> o ASAB meetings to resume at Eubanks Road in January 2022 <br /> - Update on Wild and Dangerous Animals Ordinance Committee (Bryan) <br /> o 5 divisions in current ordinance, <br /> ■ Division 1: definitions of exotic animal and wild animals. <br /> • Within ordinance is clause that equates wild animals with dangerous <br /> animals. <br /> • Exotic animals not domesticated animal and not native to North <br /> Carolina <br /> ■ Division 4 refers to display of wild and dangerous animals <br />
