18 <br /> Slide #5 <br /> Tonight's Purpose <br /> To consider approval of the 2021 Greene Tract <br /> Resolution <br /> ■ Approve the Draft Recombination Plat(i.e.shifts <br /> property lines)for the: <br /> ■ County-owned tract(60 acres)and <br /> • Joint-owned tract(approximately 107 acres) <br /> • Approve the Conceptual Plan (I.e. placement of acreage <br /> and land uses on the map)for the: <br /> ■ 1 U4-acre portion of the Greene Tract in Joint Ownership between <br /> CC,CH,and C <br /> ■ 60-acre reconfigured OC Headwaters Preserve <br /> Craig Benedict said within the last four years, there has been a lot more interest from <br /> local governments and community to move forward. He said there are affordable housing <br /> needs, but no decisions have been made on how this area will be developed. He said adopting <br /> this resolution is an incremental step to determine what lands could be available and what lands <br /> could be preserved. He said next steps will involve non-profits, the housing department, etc. <br /> He said tonight's resolution would provide for roughly 23 acres for what was originally orange <br /> county land will become jointly owned, and 23 acres of joint land will become part of <br /> Headwaters Preserve, so all balances out. He said this is a conceptual plan, not developments, <br /> and just seeks to find the best place for preservation areas and developmental areas. He said <br /> part of that process involves the school board. He said the conceptual plan does show the <br /> different uses on a map. He said Orange County and Carrboro did agree to put them on a map <br /> in a 2020 resolution, but decided to do an investigation for the environmental preserve area <br /> instead. He said 95% is the same as it was previously, but the school board has also been <br /> involved in additional discussions to determine best school site.
