Thus,the proposal uas of available National Family <br /> Caregiver Support Program funds was submitted ro the Advisory Board on Aging to consider in <br /> light ofthe approved objectives m the Master Aging Plan <br /> To assist the County Aging Board in this planning process,the Master Aging Plan Steering <br /> Committee was reanimated on November 16 and 2610 serve in the role of respite care weak <br /> group.This group is comprised of approximately 20 key voteaneer and agency leaders m Orange <br /> County. p was charged with preparing a funding proposal to submit W Triangle J Ares Agency <br /> on Aging,supportive ofthe M.A.R respite care issues identifial for the moderately impaired and <br /> severely diasbled population. The 611owing respite care proposal is submidol based on this <br /> planning process. <br /> Fundine Proposal <br /> Omnge County has had a long tradition ofpmviding support to caregivers as evidence by Home <br /> and Commodity Block Grant lauds being used for in-home respite(48 hours per week)as well <br /> es iddfomutiov and assistance seance. The Orange County Department on Aging also offers <br /> megiver counseling and a operates a support group for caregivers. Of the top 20 Master Aging <br /> Plan's issuvoobjectives,three address caregivat and family support services. Orange County is already implemmliog the <br /> day health care initiative and heary housing eleoilng service.Thus,Orange County Respite Plan <br /> is designed in meet the needs of caregivers who have diffident types ofcaegiving aimations.The <br /> plan to be implemented by the Orange County Department on Aging covers fox earegiving <br /> mess: (1)Volunteer W-home Respite;(2)Group Reside;(3)matimtiovd Respite;and(A) <br /> Professional m-home Respite requiring personal amt. <br /> 1. Volunteer la-house Respite Service. Under contract with the Orange County <br /> Department on Aging,"A Helping}Wrd"von-profit agency world depend its volunteer <br /> based home services to include respite care.The agency would be responsible for <br /> screening,trending,placing and supervising volunteer who would provide weekly mr <br /> home respite to camsiveri. The Department on Aging's EWeroaze Services Division as <br /> well ses the Dept.of Social Services'Adult Services Division would assess and review the <br /> needs of the caregiver families with"A Helping Heard"in asking appropriate matches <br /> and schedWwg volurrtc;e to provide the service.
