A portion of the amended law pertains to written comments for public <br /> 12 hearings held in remote meetings during declared emergencies. The Session Law updated the <br /> 13 parameters for public written comments. Written comments on the subject of the public hearing <br /> 14 can be submitted by interested persons until 24 hours prior to the scheduled time for the <br /> 15 beginning of the public hearing. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Chair Price introduced Craig Benedict, Orange County Planning Director. <br /> 18 Craig Benedict said the amendment decriminalizes violations of the UDO. He said staff <br /> 19 went through the LIDO to remove any language about criminal penalties. He said this does not <br /> 20 change potential criminal penalties for violation of floodplain management, soil erosion and <br /> 21 sedimentation control, and stormwater regulations. He said these changes were mandated by <br /> 22 state law.
