4 <br /> 1 BACKGROUND: <br /> 2 The Cedar Ridge High School Volleyball Team won the State 3A championship with its victory <br /> 3 in the state finals on November 6, 2021. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Chair Price introduced Fiona Cunningham, Coach of the Cedar Ridge High School <br /> 6 Volleyball Team. <br /> 7 Chair Price read the following proclamation: <br /> 8 <br /> 9 PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON <br /> 10 CEDAR RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM <br /> 11 WINNING THE 2021 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> 12 <br /> 13 WHEREAS, on November 6, 2021, Cedar Ridge High School Women's Volleyball Team <br /> 14 captured the North Carolina High School Athletic Association's (NCHSAA) 3A <br /> 15 State Championship; and <br /> 16 <br /> 17 WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Fiona Cunningham, the Cedar Ridge High School <br /> 18 Women's Volleyball Team won its first NCHSAA title; and <br /> 19 <br /> 20 WHEREAS, the Red Wolves completed the season with a 31-2 record; and <br /> 21 <br /> 22 WHEREAS, the Red Wolves brought honor upon themselves, Cedar Ridge High School, the <br /> 23 Orange County Schools District and Orange County; <br /> 24 <br /> 25 NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 26 expresses its sincere appreciation and respect to the Cedar Ridge High School <br /> 27 Women's Volleyball Team and Coach Fiona Cunningham for the team's <br /> 28 outstanding achievement, and their inspiration to youth across North Carolina <br /> 29 through their dedication, teamwork, and athletic prowess. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 This the 1411 day of December 2021. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Renee Price, Chair <br /> 36 Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 37 <br /> 38 A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton, to <br /> 39 approve the proclamation recognizing the Cedar Ridge High School Volleyball Team for winning <br /> 40 the 2021 State 3A Championship and honoring the players and coaches for representing the <br /> 41 community with the highest ideals of sportsmanship and integrity, and authorize the Chair to <br /> 42 sign. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Roll call ensued <br /> 45 <br /> 46 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 47 <br /> 48 Commissioner Bedford said she participated in high school sports herself, and coaches <br /> 49 help form character.
