ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: December 1, 2003
Action Agenda
Item No. 9- -~f
SUBJECT: Commission for the Environment
DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No
ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Gover
Membership Roster
Applications/Resumes of CFE Members
with Water Resources Experience
Interest List
Applications(s)/Resume(s) of Persons on
the Interest List
INFORMATION CONTACT:
Clerk's Office, ext. 2130, 2125, 2126, 2129
TELEPHONE NUMBERS:
Hillsborough 245-2130
Chapel Hill 968-4501
Durham 688-7331
Mebane 336-227-2031
PURPOSE: To consider making an appointment to the Commission for the Environment
(CFE).
BACKGROUND: The second term of Mr. Daniel Okun will expire at the end of December this
year. He is not eligible to be reappointed having served two consecutive terms. Mr. Okun has
filled the Water Resources position on the Commission for the Environment (CFE).
There are not any applicants for the CFE who are experienced in water issues; however, three
current CFE members have knowledge and experience in water issues and are currently
serving on the CFE Water Resources Committee. These three are now serving as At-Large
members.
They are:
Charles C, Daniel, III
Richard Pratt
Richard Whisnant
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Move one memberwith water resources experience to the Water
Resources position, no. 5, to become effective January 1, 2004, immediately after the second
term expiration of Mr. Daniel Okun. This would cause an At-Large vacancy on the CFE, Also,
consider making an appointment to said At-Large vacancy according as the Board may decide.
