39 <br /> Amendments of the Unified Development Ordinance, the Planning Director has <br /> initiated amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to conform the <br /> County's UDO to North Carolina Session Law 2021-138 which decriminalizes certain <br /> types of ordinances, including planning and development regulations. <br /> The following existing Sections of the UDO are proposed for text amendments: <br /> 9.5.6 Final Notice of Violation and/or Correction Order <br /> 9.6.5 Criminal Penalties <br /> 9.6.7 Civil Penalty <br /> Additionally, renumbering of sections in Article 9 is proposed. <br /> Purpose: To review the item and receive public comment on the proposed <br /> amendments. <br /> The Orange County Planning Board will review the amendment package at its <br /> December 1, 2021 regular meeting. The amendments were introduced to the <br /> Planning Board on November 3, 2021 as an "Ordinance Review Committee" item <br /> and the agenda materials for both Planning Board meetings can be viewed at: <br /> http://orangecountync.gov/AgendaCenter/Planning-Board-26 Staff will report the <br /> Planning Board's recommendation at the December 14, 2021 public hearing. <br /> Substantial changes in items presented at the public hearing may be made following the <br /> receipt of comments made at the public hearing. In accordance with Session Law <br /> 2021-35 (House Bill 812), which pertains to written comments for public hearings held in <br /> remote meetings during declared emergencies, written comments on the subject of the <br /> public hearing can be submitted by interested persons until 24 hours prior to the <br /> scheduled time for the beginning of the public hearing. Written comments to the Board <br /> of County Commissioners can be sent via e-mail to ocbocc@orangecountync.gov. <br /> The full text of the public hearing items may be obtained no later than December 10, <br /> 2021 on the County's website: https://www.orangecountync.gov/1707/BOCC-Agendas. <br /> Information is also available from the Orange County Planning Department (contact <br /> information below). As stated above, the materials reviewed by the Planning Board are <br /> currently available at http://orangecountync.gov/AgendaCenter/Planning-Board-26 <br /> Questions regarding the proposals may be directed to the Orange County Planning <br /> Department via phone at (919) 245-2575 during normal office hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 <br /> p.m., Monday through Friday). You may also e-mail questions to <br /> planningdept@orangecountync.gov. Written comments to the Board of County <br /> Commissioners can be sent via e-mail to ocbocc@orangecountync.gov. Written <br /> comments can also be dropped off at the Planning Department offices at 131 W. <br /> Margaret Lane, 2nd floor, Hillsborough, NC during normal office hours or mailed to the <br /> Planning Department at P.O.
