258 <br />iJFCREAS, Article 3 of Chapter 128 of the General Statutes of North Carolina provides that any <br />governmental unit desiring to enroll its employees in said System shall make application to the Board <br />of Trustees of the North Carolina Local Government Employees' Retirement System and shall by resolution <br />elect to participate in said System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners in regular session, <br />1. That the Board of Commissioners hereby elects to participate its employees in the North <br />Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System. <br />2. That the Board of Commissioners hereby agrees to comply with all provisions of the North <br />Carolina Local Goverment Employees' Retirement System as defined in Article 3, Chapter 128 of the <br />General Statutes of North Carolina as amended by the 1945 General Assembly. <br />3. That the Hyconeechee Regional Library is hereby ordered and directed to make application <br />to the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System for <br />enrollment of this Unit and its employees in said System. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jones and seconded by Commissioner McDade, the above resolution <br />was introduced for passage. The following number voted in the affirmative: 5. The following <br />member voted in the negatives: 0. <br />The County Accountant presented the request of Ike Andrews, District Solicitor, for the <br />payment of $200.00 to Roy M. Cole. Mr. Cole had assisted Mr. Andrews during the last term of <br />Superior Court. Action on this matter was deferred to a later date. <br />Chairman Stanford read a letter from Joseph M. Johnston, Superintendent of the Chapel Hill <br />Schools. Mr. Johnston'requested Commissioners meet with the Chapel Hill City Board of Education <br />for the purpose of discussing the 1962-1963 school budgets. He stated that he felt much could be <br />gained if such a meeting could be arranged and he suggested that the meeting be held in Chapel Hill <br />as the advantage would be that the records and other material would be available for the discussion. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jones, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously adopted, <br />the Board of Commissioners set Monday, March 12th, as the date of the meeting with the Chapel Hill <br />School Board. <br />Commissioner Bennett brought to the attention of the Board the matter concerning a road <br />petition which had been submitted previously by Harry D. Atkins for Moon Ridge Road which is located <br />in Timberlake Estates. Commissioner Bennett requested that the Board again approve this petition <br />and that the Clerk write to`the State Highway Commissioner informing them of this action. The <br />Clerk was instructed to write a letter to the State Highway Commission informing them of the <br />action taken concerning the Noon Ridge Road request. <br />Chairman Stanford brought to the attention of the Board a request which had been made by <br />Cargill Wilson Acree Advertising Agency in Charlotte. The agency wanted permission to reproduce <br />the county seal on an advertisement which would be used in a banking publication advertisement <br />for North Carolina National Bank. Discussion ensued on this matter and the Clerk was authorized to <br />mail an impression of the county seal to William L. Shotwell, representative of Cargill Wilson Acres. <br />The Clerk was requested to ask that a sample of this advertisement be submitted for approval. <br />IR. J. Smith, Sr., Chairman of the A.B.C.
