a- <br />• Mailed postcards to all licensed Orange County nurses and pharmacists inviting them to <br />an information session on the Medical Reserve Corps. <br />Hired a temporary administrative assistance to assist with postcard mailings, organize <br />respondents into temporary database, correct address errors, re-mail returned postcards, <br />and assist with organization of information sessions. <br />Contacted all interested respondents via letter or telephone regazding the MRC <br />information sessions and future training topics. <br />Completed Respiratory Training and Fit-Testing far Personal Protective Equipment <br />(respirators) in order to fit-test volunteers for respirators on-site during emergencies. <br />Ordered and obtained all training materials to conduct information sessions and initial <br />MRC training modules. <br />Goals/Objectives/Strategies <br />A volunteer citizen carps of qualified, trained medical professionals and non-medical <br />conununity members will provide additional response capacity during emergency events, <br />strengthen the public health infrastructure, and help address public health needs and problems <br />tluaughout the yeaz, <br />Obiectives <br />First Ouarter~ Year One Funding <br />1. Fifty percent of the licensed nurses (approximately 100) who respond to the invitation <br />postcazd will attend one of three scheduled information sessions on the MRC and Health <br />Department roles and responsibilities by September 30, 2003. <br />10 <br />
