The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the <br />Public Health Preparedness and Risk Management/Training Coordinators to develop training <br />opportunities for volunteers in such azeas as Incident Command System, bioterrorism, and <br />American Red Cross Disaster Services, The Volunteer Coordinator will also work with <br />representatives from the Department of Emergency Management and the Public Health Regional <br />Surveillance Team to address manpower issues pertaining to levels of response for various <br />emergency events, Appropriate volunteers will then be recruited and trained to participate on the <br />necessary response teams. <br />Current Status of Medical Reserve Coms <br />The Public Health Preparedness and Risk Management and Training Coordinators have <br />begun establishment of the MRC unit and have accomplished the following tasks: <br />• Established relaticnships with and discussed creation of the MRC with key community <br />partners including local Citizen Corps and CERT coordinator (Eric Griffin); Public <br />Health Regional Surveillance Team; Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross; <br />Orange County Depaztments of Emergency Management and Social Services; local law <br />enforcement; and UNC Hospitals, Student Health Services, and Schools of Nursing, <br />Public Health, and Pharmacy. <br />• Obtained database of all Orange County licensed RNs and LPNs from the North Carolina <br />Board ofNursing (approximately 2,500 total), <br />• Obtaured database of all Orange County licensed pharmacists from the North Carolina <br />Board of Pharmacy (approximately 275 total). <br />
