She said she watched the <br /> 5 September 1 st meeting when the elected officials in the room had pointed comments about the <br /> 6 three alternatives, and them being all highways and lacking in the shared values of public <br /> 7 transportation, walkability and green spaces. She said the presentation tonight shows that this <br /> 8 feedback was heard, and she looks forward to seeing the proposal. <br /> 9 Commissioner Richards began having technical issues. <br /> 10 Commissioner Bedford asked if there is an opportunity to mix and match between the <br /> 11 two alternatives. <br /> 12 Andy Henry said yes. <br /> 13 Commissioner Bedford said because of funding shortfalls and increased costs of <br /> 14 construction, there has been a stop in the concentric circles, and MPOs are reevaluating current <br /> 15 projects with the funds that are available. <br /> 16 Nish Trivedi said <br /> 17 Commissioner Bedford said due to fiscal constraints, all must consider the different <br /> 18 options. She said safety needs have to be blended in with population growth and area values. <br /> 19 She said some road improvements are still needed as well. She said land use decisions <br /> 20 interrelate with all of this. <br /> 21 Commissioner Fowler said she reviewed the OUTBoard recommendations and agrees <br /> 22 with adding off street bicycling and pedestrian corridors. She asked if the Board's endorsement <br /> 23 of these suggestions would have any impact. <br /> 24 Nishith Trivedi said there is a chapter in the MTP about Bike/Ped projects. He said the <br /> 25 MTP is broken down into transportation modes. He said a preferred plan will be sent out <br /> 26 including all modes of transportation. <br /> 27 Commissioner Fowler clarified that the Board's endorsement of the OUTBoard <br /> 28 suggestions may impact the MPO's plans. <br /> 29 Nishith Trivedi said yes. <br /> 30 Commissioner Fowler said the second bullet is recreational facilities and asked how that <br /> 31 relates to transportation <br /> 32 Nishith Trivedi said it refers to greenways. He said there are bike routes in Orange <br /> 33 County, which are also used for transportation. <br /> 34 Chair Price asked if this is similar to the American Tobacco Trail. <br /> 35 Nishith Trivedi said yes, something like that, or the river walk, or Mountains to Sea Trail. <br /> 36 Commissioner Fowler said since it was a different bullet point it seemed like it was <br /> 37 different. <br />
