2 <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION <br /> AND INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or <br /> color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national <br /> origin or ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential <br /> or economic status. <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> County Attorney <br /> 3. Technical Amendment — The County Attorney's office has identified increased costs to its <br /> litigation expenses based on ongoing legal matters. This amendment moves $12,500 in <br /> savings identified in County utility accounts due to the hybrid work model to fund these <br /> expenses. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County social justice goals associated <br /> with this item. <br /> Health Department <br /> 4. The Orange County Health Department has received the following additional funds: <br /> • Advancing Equity Grant - $39,900 in Centers for Disease Control (CDC) funds <br /> through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to address <br /> COVID-19 related health disparities and advance health equity. The grant service <br /> period is September 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022. Funds will be used for staff and <br /> community training, advertising material, contract interpreters and translators, child <br /> care, speaker fees, and gift cards to be used to incentivize students for participating <br /> in school diversity and equity campaigns. <br /> • FDA Retail Program Grant - $6,148 in US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) <br /> grant funds for the Retail Program Standards program. The grant period ends <br /> March 31, 2022.
