She said the current $30 million is to fix flooding and HVAC needs to tide the <br /> schools over while a plan is developed. <br /> Commissioner McKee said the group would force a prioritization of projects, which will <br /> help prepare for a future bond. <br /> Chair Price echoed the other Commissioners' comments, and said the group will need to <br /> think strategically. She said the group could collect data that is not currently being collected <br /> and use that information to plan. <br /> Commissioner McKee asked if each school system could identify how much funding of <br /> the previous bond is remaining. <br /> Rhonda Rath said Orange County Schools has $12-15 million of total bond funds <br /> remaining. <br /> Patrick Abele said the majority of capital projects are in mechanical upgrades. He said <br /> the facilities studies did not consider the electrical costs in order to complete the mechanical <br /> updates. He said two more schools, within 6, will move into design phase. He said while <br /> classrooms are shut down for significant work, the entire classroom is reviewed for upgrades <br /> such as lighting, painting, flooring, etc. He said an updated comprehensive facilities study is <br /> probably warranted again. <br /> Jonathan Scott said the bond was completely liquidated for CHCCS. <br /> Commissioner McKee said he is concerned that contractors were not able to address <br /> the mechanical issues in OCS. <br /> Patrick Abele said there is a national shortage for many supplies, and it took time to <br /> secure the electrical upgrades in order to install the mechanical equipment.
