ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD <br /> January 20, 2021 <br /> Orange County Economic Development Office <br /> 131 W. Margaret Lane <br /> Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br /> Minutes <br /> Members Present: Paige Zinn, Sharon Hill, John Morris, Kristen Young, John Anderson, Tom Proctor, <br /> Jonna Foushee <br /> Orange County Staff: Steve Brantley, Amanda Garner, Mike Ortosky, Lindsey Hirni <br /> Call to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Paige Zinn at 9:33 a.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> A motion was made by Paige Zinn and seconded by Tom Proctor to approve the minutes from the <br /> October 21 2020 meeting. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> New Business <br /> Steve Brantley gave an overview of the Advisory Board's Annual Report&Work Plan that is due this <br /> month. He requested that members of the board send any accomplishments for 2020, goals that we have <br /> for 2021 or feedback to include in the report. <br /> Steve spoke about the BOCC Annual Retreat and Long Term Economic Recovery Discussion that will be <br /> virtual and open to the public on Friday January 22 and Saturday January 23. The Economic <br /> Development department contributed to the agenda by providing goals and strategies for long-term <br /> economic recovery. <br /> Old Business <br /> Amanda Garner gave a summary about the Orange County Small Business Loan Program Transition and <br /> Round 3 Emergency Grant Program. <br /> The board discussed keeping our bi-monthly meetings the same day(3rd Wednesday at 9:30 am) moving <br /> forward. <br /> Mike Ortosky gave a summary on Agricultural and Food System Activities over the past few months. He <br /> discussed the growing awareness of regional food systems, the local food distribution and the need for <br /> more facilities and sites in Orange County. <br /> Mike provided an approximate total number of Ag Economic Development Grants that have been <br /> rewarded. Mike mentioned that the annual AG Summit will be held virtually February 8-10tn <br /> Director's Report <br /> Steve provided an update on current project activity. Well Dot will be moving after renovations are <br /> complete in late 2021, Wegmans grand opening is scheduled for late February. The ABB expansion is <br /> complete and Medline has been making progress on their site. The Board will discuss the Efland Station <br /> project further at the next meeting. <br /> Adjournment <br /> Paige Zinn adjourned the meeting at 10:29 A.M. <br />
