Helical Steel Piers shall be installed by an authorized A.B. Chance dealer, <br /> or approved equal. The Dealer shall have satisfied the certification re- <br /> quirements related to the technical aspects of the product and the appro- <br /> priate installation techniques. <br /> 2. All work described herein shall be performed in accordance with all appli- <br /> cable safety codes. <br /> 3. The Dealer shall employ a skilled, experienced work force familiar with the <br /> requirements and methods necessary for proper performance of the work. <br /> 4. The Dealer shall visit the site and become familiar with permissible access <br /> and egress paths to the work, headroom requirements, working space and <br /> specific owner requirements. <br /> B. Pier Location and Performance Requirements <br /> 1. Helical piers shall be installed as shown on the project plans. <br /> 2. Spacing of piers shall be as shown on the drawings, with a location toler- <br /> ance of 6" in any direction. <br /> 3. Size and number of helices shall be determined by the Dealer in order to <br /> provide the load capacity indicated. <br /> a. For tie backs: 5,500-pound minimum safe working load per pier. <br /> 4. Minimum depth or length of piers: <br /> a. For tie backs: 15 ft. unless installation torque indicates required <br /> safe working load is achieved at a shorter length. <br /> 5. Minimum final installation torque shall be that corresponding to the indi- <br /> cated load capacity required for each pier. <br /> 1.2 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. Engineering calculations for helical pier capacity, signed and sealed by a <br /> professional engineer registered in the state of North Carolina.
