justice issues, and the dev elopment of social skills through working <br />in peer groups. <br />W ith a commitment to div ersity, equity, inclusion, and ensuring all <br />learners can explore their creativ e capacity through access to <br />transformativ e arts experiences, scholarships are offered to <br />students from low-income households for both the ArtsCamp and <br />Afterschool Arts Immersion programs. <br />TAC’s partnership with the Family Success Alliance prov ides four <br />weeks of summer arts programs teaching children interpersonal skills <br />and preparing them for a classroom setting.  Many these children are <br />coming from immigrant families and hav e nev er sat in a classroom <br />before.  They take morning classes teaching them the alphabet and <br />numbers and we prov ide afternoon classes using art to engage with <br />their teachers in a setting where they can activ ely participate in the <br />learning process. These youth are taught to use creativ e problem <br />solv ing, building confidence to set them up for success in a <br />traditional classroom. Ov er 70% of the students are not nativ e <br />English speakers and 99% are non-white. <br />TAC’s year round ArtSchool is the largest resource in Orange County <br />for learners of all ages to explore their creativ e capacity, offering <br />instruction in v arious art forms from ceramics to digital arts to <br />improv . All learners regardless of age, skill or schedule can access <br />the ArtSchool with classes offered at v ariety of times, prices,and <br />formats. <br />The ArtsCenter’s performance spaces present performers such as <br />internationally famous k.d. lang and Dav id Lindley as well as locally <br />famous songwriters like Rissi Palmer, a BIPOC country music singer <br />residing in Durham, in an intimate engaging theater space. Orange <br />County residents lov e to share who they saw and more importantly, <br />who they discov ered on our stage. Most importantly, our stages <br />continue to prov ide entertainment for ev eryone. <br />Please explain the <br />impact of your <br />organization on the <br />Orange County <br />community in a <br />typical year. <br />Our programming in 2019 had an economic impact of $4.3M <br />(according to the Americans for the Arts prosperity calculator). This <br />breaks down into 127 full-time jobs and $2.6 M in household income <br />generated through expenditures made by The ArtsCenter and our <br />audiences. The ArtsCenter is not only the largest arts organization in <br />Orange County, prov iding 100,000 arts experiences to NC residents <br />each year but also the largest employer of Orange County artists. <br />In 2019 <br />• we hired 155 artists as teaching artists, performers & instructors <br />• W e offered 236 ArtSchool classes <br />• W e hosted 133 performances <br />• W e offered 32K in scholarships <br />• W e hosted 125 ArtsCamp family share ev ents <br />• W e serv ed 1300 students in our Orange County Title One Partner <br />schools. <br />• In total we engaged 103K people through The ArtsCenter’s classes, <br />exhibits, ev ents & classroom experiences. <br />Despite COVID-19, we continue to meet the needs of our community, <br />offering art experiences in a safe but impactful way.
