Provide a brief
description of your
pre-pandemic core
arts-related
programming or
offerings.
VOICES is comprised of 3 distinct chorale groups VOICES, CANTARI
and Summer Voices, with a total membership count of 210 v ocal
artists. VOICES is the only non-affiliated nonprofit chorale group in
the Orange County area. Our membership and performance
attendees represent a range of demographics.
Prior to the pandemic VOICES employed an Artistic Director and a
Rehearsal Accompanist and had fiv e in person performances per
year: 2 by VOICES, 3 by CANTARI, and a Summer Voices, that staged
a summer concert or international tour. In addition, we collaborated
with local youth groups (Chapel Hill HS Chamber Choir, Sisters’
Voices, NC Boys & Girls Choir) in performances and workshops. W e
practiced and performed liv e, in person, in local Orange County
v enues. Our in person attendance prior to the pandemic was 1,075
per year.
Our performing repertoire ranged from classical to modern periods
with contracted instrumentalists and soloists. Exemplars include
Orff’s Carmina Burana, McCartney’s Ecce Cor Meum, Mozart’s
Requiem, Dv orak’s Mass in D Major, RV W illiams’ Dona Nobis Pacem,
selections from Messiah: A Joyful Celebration, Honneger’s Une
Cantate de Noël.
Please explain the
impact of your
organization on the
Orange County
community in a
typical year.
In a typical year, VOICES brings to Orange County a unique
opportunity to experience classical pieces liv e, as well as new and
unique music through commissioned or premiered new choral works.
VOICES typically performs 5 times per year in Orange County, with an
av erage annual attendance of 1,075. W e rent practice and
performance space from local organizations, ensuring our funds
continue to support the Orange County community. In addition to
ticket sales, tickets are av ailable at low or no cost to community
groups in need.
VOICES has 210 v ocal artists, 3 contract employees (the Artistic
Director and the Rehearsal Accompanist) and engages additional
local paid instrumentalists and soloists for our performances. Our
work with youth groups prov ides them with an opportunity to
experience a broad genre of music.
DocuSign Envelope ID: 1AF90AAC-CB09-474D-AB50-E09E3018B5D0
