11 <br /> The Board conducted a public hearing on the North Carolina Urbanized Area Formula <br /> grant application by Orange County Transportation Services (OCTS) for FY 2022; approved the <br /> grant application which includes the resolution previously adopted by the Board authorizing the <br /> applicant to enter into an agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation <br /> (NCDOT); and authorized the County Attorney to review and complete the necessary 2022 <br /> certifications and assurances when they are received (2021 versions attached as examples). <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Each year, the NCDOT Public Transportation Division accepts requests for operations and <br /> administrative needs for county-operated Urbanized Area Formula Grant applications. OCTS is <br /> eligible to make an application for both operations and administrative funding. NCDOT has <br /> allotted $331,406 in funds detailed breakdown is outlined in the table below: <br /> 5307 Grant Application: FY22 <br /> Total $ 331,406 <br /> Federal $ 165,703 <br /> Local $ 165,703 <br /> Theo Letman, Orange County Transportation Services Director, reviewed the <br /> background information for the item. He reviewed the various uses for the grant funding <br /> including marketing, office supplies, administrative funds, etc. He said these funds help the <br /> county support urban area transportation. He said these funds will increase resident access to <br /> healthcare, employment, shopping, etc. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Greene, seconded by Commissioner McKee, to <br /> open the public hearing on the proposed grant application. <br /> Roll call ensued <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Fowler, to <br /> close the public hearing. <br /> Roll call ensued <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Commissioner Richards asked if the application forms will be the same as FY21-22. <br /> Theo Letman said the forms and application are the same every year. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Fowler, to <br /> approve the Urbanized Area Formula Grant application for FY 2022 in the total amount of <br /> $331,406 with a local match total of$165,703 to be provided when necessary; approve and <br /> authorize the Chair to sign the Local Share Certification for Funding form and other associated <br /> documents; and authorize the County Attorney to review and complete the necessary 2022 <br /> certifications and assurances when they are received. <br />
